The information we teach is practical, hands-on, and visual. A: Yes, please bring a farm map to the course. On the final day, we will put into action what you have learnt in the previous days by starting to plan where to start when you return home to your landscape after the course.
Q: I don’t have a river or creek on my farm, is Natural Sequence Farming still applicable for me?
A: Yes, wherever rain falls or water and plants exist, Natural Sequence Farming is applicable, whether it be in your backyard or the desert.
Q: I have a farm with steeper land, is Natural Sequence Farming still applicable for me?
A: Yes, it is. Contours of any description can be used to slow the flow of water. NSF aims to spread water and fertility from the low points to the high points, so in the situation of steeper land from an area such as a gully to the ridgeline, therefore distributing fertility such as mulch or hay from low points (filtration) to the high points (accumulation zone).
Q: I have a farm with flatter land, is Natural Sequence Farming still applicable for me?
A: Yes, it is. Contours of any description can be used to slow the flow of water. NSF aims to spread water and fertility from the low points to the high points, so in the situation of flatter land, water and fertility are still moving; nowhere is perfectly flat for nothing to move. So we still want to implement works to get that water and fertility distributed, promoting its storage in the ground and capturing as much fertility as possible and holding it on your farm.
Q: Does the soil type I have at my farm impact whether Natural Sequence Farming is applicable for me?
A: The soil type you have doesn’t impact whether Natural Sequence Farming applies to you. It may mean you have to make changes for your situation, but it doesn’t mean Natural Sequence Farming isn’t applicable.
