SUMMARY:Natural Skincare with Gabby Scott of PePo
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered exactly what the difference is between some of your favourite skincare products? What makes a balm different from a lotion or a body butter? How do you choose oils to combine to make bath oils or body oils? What’s involved in making these products from scratch? Gabby Scott is a naturopath\, herbalist and chef who\, having studied cosmetic chemistry\, has developed her own natural skincare brand and would like to share some of this knowledge in a hands-on manufacturing workshop. Understanding the role which the different ingredients play is the first step to experimenting with making your own natural products\, something which isn’t as hard to do as you might think. \nJoin us from 5:30pm on Friday 6th July for Tapas by Kandanga Kitchen and a blissful couple of hours immersed in nourishment for you and your skin. You’ll take home your own skin balm made by you with your own signature essential oils. \nAll ingredients will be provided. \nThis is a limited participant workshop so bookings are essential. You can email us info(at)kandangafarmstore.com.au or if you prefer to pay online then do so via our friends at Bos Rural – link to your right.

SUMMARY:Understanding Farm Hydrology - with Stuart Andrews
DESCRIPTION:Stuart Andrews is a farmer who has dedicated over 30 years of his life to understanding\, practicing and teaching land rehabilitation techniques. Stuart was raised on the 1500 acre property “Tarwyn Park”\, Bylong\, the celebrated home of Natural Sequence Farming (NSF)\, pioneered by his father Peter Andrews. \nIn this workshop you will: \n Look at landscape function\n Talk about how to slow the losses of water and matter off your property\n How to rehydrate landscapes and how that impacts on your entire farm \nCurrently\, Stuart’s property “Riverside” in Kybong marries NSF with other tried and tested models of regenerative agriculture. This trial is intended to establish a model of land rehabilitation that can be scaled up from very small blocks to large acreages\, while also allowing the farmer to derive an income from the land. This trial builds upon Stuart’s extensive knowledge of environmentally beneficial farming practices\, reflects his commitment to sharing knowledge with others and is guided by models of sustainable agriculture that have been highly successful elsewhere in the world. \n9:30-11:30 Saturday the 16th June. Please wear shoes made for walking and bring a hat. Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to grab a coffee and register. Bookings essential! \nMorning Tea is included!

SUMMARY:I can't go Organic because..........
DESCRIPTION:Those of you who know us know that we believe that poison has no place in the food chain. We also get told regularly all the reasons why it is impossible in this area to be chemical free. \nSo lets go there\, lets address all these obstacles. Maybe there are some problems that can’t be solved – but unless we try and find solutions things will never change. Just asking the questions can start us on the path to finding the answers. \n\nOrganic products are too expensive\nIf I have a disease or pest outbreak I could lose everything\nLabour is too expensive\nIt just isn’t possible in this area\nOrganic compliance is too time consuming and too expensive\nThe returns are simply not enough to warrant the costs\nMy animals/crops would suffer if I was organic as they would be overrun by pests/weeds/diseases\n\nApril 11 is your chance to come with your questions and ask a panel of experts. \nAttending we have Robert Wallace from Organic Food Chain who can deal with issues of compliance \nJason Vella from Organic Crop Protectants who can cover specific crop health issues \nTim Marshall one of the the Founders of the Organic movement who has visited over 3000 Organic properties and is an author of several resource books. Tim was the first Certification and Standards Manager for the world peak body in organics IFOAM. There’s not much he can’t cover! \nPlus Certified and In Conversion Organic Producers from within and outside of the Mary Valley who can talk about their own experience of going/being organic. \n  \nTicket price includes an organic morning tea and lunch by Kandanga Kitchen. RSVP’s are essential for catering purposes.
